The Pursuit of Happyness: A look back

Hey, don't ever let somebody tell you...You can't do something. Not even me. Alright?

In San Francisco in 1981, there was an American-African named Chris Gardener who struggled to sell a bone scanner, knocking every single hospital door and medical center just to make sure that he could provide some food on the table for his small family; his wife (Linda) and little boy (Christopher)

Becoming a sales agent is not an easy job. With great communication and determination, everybody could achieve success. Chris might be the one who proved it. But with no luck, it seems impossible. His wife, Linda worked in a nursery, doing overtime and working her ass off to help pay the bills and rent. But good fate was not in their favor and because of this, they sometimes got into a fight over it. The financial constraints led to her decision to move out and left the family for a better job at her relative's restaurant in New York. Chris was adamant that the son must stay with him. From here, the plot got more intensive as struggles started coming over one by one.

Chris's never-ending hard work finally paid off. Incessant efforts and constant attempts to find a better career paved the way for an interview of an internship at one of the prestigious brokerage firms in the States. Nevertheless, the pains did not just stop there. The challenge that he had to face was getting more complicated. The company would only hire one of the twenty interns there. As the struggles build-up, he once got moved out of an apartment. They then had to move to a small room in a motel and ultimately they once ended up sleeping in the toilet at the bus station.

As an intern at the firm, he found himself in a competitive mode. He had to study to pass the exams and showed terrific performance in the hope of getting employed. Chris faced every single problem with calm and perseverance.

Struggling to be the best among the best at his firm, Chris stepped up his game with a bold move by visiting a CEO in the hope of landing a new account. This time around, his decision opened his dark brown eyes. The CEO invited him and his son to watch American football together. They were awed by the world of the business elites which almost everything was done first-class. However, the CEO politely dismissed Chris' offer as he was still a rookie in that area.

'The Pursuit of Happyness' was based on a true story of a man who spared no effort in a competitive world to escape from poverty. It also highlights the essence of capitalism where everyone can succeed if it is followed by hardworking and tenacity. Most importantly, the performance by Will Smith as the main character, along with his son, Christoper brought the movie up to the next level. Personally, it is a great movie that should be watched by everyone which will definitely help us to gain the spirit to grow in life. Highly recommended!
