Reminiscing My Days in Asasi (UiTM Dengkil)

I vividly remember the first time when I stepped onto the land of UiTM Dengkil. Back then, my feeling was quite somber as it was not my ultimate choice after my application to study at Institut Pengajian Guru (IPG) was rejected.

I was not very happy and started worrying about the difficulties of studying the course I didn't have a passion for. Never mind, forget that first.

So here I will share my experience where all the things started. I registered as an Engineering student on the 17th of June 2019. On that day, in a manner of speaking, everybody looked happy and excited. Loads of bags and kinds of stuff were packed nicely carried by the students along with their beloved parents.

I believed that most of them came with one desire; to succeed in life. The registration went smoothly before the key was handed to students. After that, we 'checked in' to our dorm, and reluctantly joined the orientation program for about 3 days before the actual lesson kicked off.

I was placed in the first class of engineering students, E01. The first class here doesn't mean that it was the best class in terms of qualifications. It was randomly chosen by the administration of the university. I started my first-day class, learning and getting new friends who come from different backgrounds and walks of life.

Initially, it was not so difficult to keep going studying in the first semester. However, as the clock was ticking in, the feeling of studying those subjects was getting boring and dull. My eagerness to perform well like the beginning upon stepping my foot at the university kept falling off incessantly.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Nevertheless, I realized, friends always help me going through all the hurdles I had had in university. They are the ones who warm the cockles of my heart. Usually, on the weekend we would hang out around Putrajaya and Cyberjaya since these are the nearest cities to Dengkil — because Dengkil is just a small town so it got nothing fascinating.

Relaxing my mind by strolling around Dataran Gemilang, taking pictures around Putrajaya Square, and 'pekena' Nasi Kandar at both branches of LC in Putrajaya and Kg. Bharu with colleagues would be the best memories during Asasi's days. That was how I rejuvenated myself after having 'mundane' weeks at university.

Speaking of studying at the university, subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science were not my favorite then. But as a matter of fact, you don't have to be superbly intelligent to score well in exams. Just know the trick to get good results and you will pass the exams with flying colors — everybody knows this.

After studying for 14 weeks for both semesters, I managed to accomplish and graduated with mediocre results. Not too good, but at least much better than my earlier expectations.

During 10 months of studying in Asasi, I learned many things about life. Getting new friends, exploring many places, and engaging many people was something new in my life. For me, Asasi was a milestone in the exploration of new things in my world.

Life is short. Everything you do will determine your future and your life. You have to make up your mind for the sake of your own journey. Perhaps you don't seem to like the things you have to go through but bear in mind that you cannot turn the clock back. Rules of life, obviously. Choose the decision wisely and plan thoroughly.
